Olepangi Farm

Day 1: Olepangi Farm

Arrive by road to Olepangi Farm, driving through the beautiful Kikuyu Highlands, arriving in
time for a hearty lunch. Spend the afternoon as you like. Perhaps a visit to see the farm's donkeys and
tortoises, explore the farm or just relax ready for sundowners, followed by dinner down on the river
by a roaring fire. With luck we'll have a magnificent night of glorious stars and "whoops" from the
local hyena's.

Day 2: Olepangi Farm

This morning, after a leisurely breakfast on the breakfast deck, guests who wish, can go on a
community walk with the local guide following the Timau River. This takes you through surrounding
farmland and forest ending at a beautiful waterfall only accessible by foot. There is also the option for
a gentler walk around Olepangi Farm spotting birdlife, flora and fauna. After lunch beneath the shade
of an impressive fig tree we will go out on an orientation ride to match all riders with their horses for
the safari.

In the evening we will set up a telescope to view the magical African sky with hot chocolates around the fire pit.

Day 3: Olepangi Farm

Early risers can watch the sunrise over the mountain. We'll ride out from our farm after breakfast to Lolldaiga Hills Ranch, often referred to as the most beautiful ranch in all of Kenya.

It is a great privilege that we have use of this private ranch for it is a wonder to behold. We'll take our time
enjoying the scenery and wildlife along the way. We'll have a good chance of seeing elephant, giraffe, buffalo and, with luck, many other species. We'll arrive at Lolldaiga Farmhouse time for a late lunch followed by an evening game drive to our phenomenal sundowner spot.

Day 4: Olepangi Farm

Wake up to a cup of tea or coffee in bed, followed by a light breakfast of toast and muesli. We'll then head off into a different direction enjoying the quiet and tranquility of this 49,000 acre private game reserve.

Depending on the season this may involve some cantering through the open plains or pushing-on through seas of tall grass following giraffe, zebra, antelope, elephant, buffalo; whatever's out there. We will break for a bush lunch in a shady spot giving both riders and horses plenty of time to relax. There's always some wine on offer to encourage a little nap before our afternoon ride back to base.

The afternoon ride is deliberately slower-paced and it's a good opportunity to ask questions and take photographs. The bird-life is some of the best in the world and towards sunset there is often elephant interaction to enjoy. We will return to the farmhouse and go out on an evening drive to see what is around before dark.

Day 5: Olepangi Farm

This morning we will get onto the horses at first light to make the most of the cool air and greater game activity. We will stop for a break after about two hours riding for a bit of a re-fuel before making our way back to the farmhouse in time for baths and a chance to relax before lunch.

This afternoon we will explore on foot, going down to the eastern part of the ranch where caves with ancient rock art can be found. Sundowners will be ready after the walk returning to the farmhouse for dinner and stories around the fire.

Day 6: Olepangi Farm

For your last ride we're going to take you through different country, making our way through clouds of grass to plains dotted with cedar trees. While passing through woodlands, there's a possibility of finding big game again. Our pace may increase as we break out onto the plains; perhaps disturbing troops of baboons or cantering alongside giraffes or cape buffalo. Back at Olepangi Farm, there's time to shower before lunch. Spend the afternoon relaxing with a book or take us on at a game of croquet!

Day 7: Olepangi Farm

After breakfast we will venture to Ngare Ndare Forest with picnic lunches. Here you will walk along the elevated tree canopy walkway where you get a different perspective of the forest. Birdlife is plentiful and you may be lucky enough to spot migrating elephants. After this you will walk through the forest to our picnic spot for a hearty lunch. After lunch we will explore the many waterfalls within, ending with the source pool which is a magnificent blue surrounded by trees and vines.

For those brave enough there are various waterfall jumps. We will return back to Olepangi Farm in time for sundowners and dinner in the Party House.

Day 8: Olepangi Farm

Today you can enjoy a lie in and a relaxed final breakfast before your onward journey. Depending on your flight time you are welcome to have an extra lunch and enjoy the farm until you leave.
