    The African Story

     Safari Overview:

Enjoy two very different destinations with this African safari. Spend a few days in a highly modern camp at Leopard Hill and experience classic game viewing from leopard sightings to elephant encounters in a true wilderness setting.

Wind up your safari with a trip to Africa's leading beach destination Diani Beach to soak up some sunshine along the tropical beach. Our itinerary is an ideal recipe for a laidback luxury safari holiday inclusive of game drives and walking safaris in the non-motorized area of Mara Naboisho Conservancy and sunset dhow cruises with a selection of watersports in Diani Beach.

    Day 1: Leopard Hill

Upon your arrival in Nairobi, you will be transferred by our driver to Wilson Airport for your flight to the Leopard Hill in Mara Naboisho Conservancy. Explore aerial views of Nairobi flying towards the southern end of the Great Rift Valley in Kenya with the faulted rocks, stunning scenery, and a variety of game life. Mara Naboisho Conservancy is located within 50,000 hectares of the pristine wilderness a true escape.

Once you reach the camp, settle in and soak up the tranquility of the African bush before you are served lunch in the camp's stylish main dining area. After lunch, embark on a short walk around the camp and get to know your new home for the next few days, or help yourself to your favorite drink from the bar as you enjoy the views of the passing game of the Mara! Enjoy an afternoon tea by the double fig tree followed by dinner in the main dining tent, or perhaps out in the bush. Wind up your first day in the bush with some drinks and storytelling around the camp fireplace.

    Day 2: Leopard Hill

Start the day with a beautiful sunrise yoga session that will awaken all your senses, or try a morning game drive and explore the rare sights of the bush. Mara Naboisho is home to a variety of wildlife and birds, including several endangered species such as the black rhino. Return to camp for a healthy breakfast. At mid-day, you will have your lunch. Relax and enjoy the views, you can see incredible and exciting sightings straight from the camp, so make use of the binoculars provided.

Afternoon tea will be served in the lounge followed by an afternoon game drive in the Mara Naboisho Conservancy. Meet up with your experienced Maasai guide who will take you on an afternoon game drive. Pause for a sundowner and witness a magnificent African sunset while sipping a glass of your favorite drink. Extend your safari adventure into the twilight in an effort to spot the fascinating nocturnal creatures. Back at camp dinner will be served at your choice of venue and you can end your day sipping some wine by your private campfire place. When you are ready, retire to your tent to be lulled to sleep by the sounds of the wilderness.

    Day 3: Leopard Hill

Awake at dawn for an early morning game drive. Your guide will take you through the savanna in search of the great Mara predators. Then head back to camp for breakfast. Or start your morning with a magnificent aerial view of the Maasai Mara plains from a hot air balloon (at an extra cost book with reception). Glide over the sprawling Mara plains, observing the flora and fauna from treetop level, on an enchanting balloon ride. This area is one of the finest safari areas in Masai Mara, with an extremely high density of wildlife. You are sure to be enthralled by the abundant wildlife experience. At flight's end, you'll savour a champagne breakfast followed by a leisurely drive back to Leopard Hill to relax before lunch.

After lunch, you can read a book or join your guide for a nature walk, or enjoy the beautiful surroundings from the comfort of your own private terrace. In the late afternoon get ready for a sunset yoga. Experience dining under the stars with a camp bush dinner. Later, share your stories and photos of the day with the team and other guests by the fireplace or head back to your tent for some drinks around your private camp fireplace.

    Day 4: Leopard Hill

Wake up before dawn and head out into the conservancy with the option of a walking safari or a game drive. Spend the early morning hours enjoying spectacular game viewing before heading back to the camp for breakfast. Or awake for a yoga session at a leisurely pace. After breakfast join your guide for a visit to the traditional Maasai village. Experience how the Maasai people live in the middle of the bush with plains game grazing and lions roaring just outside their homes and get to know their culture and customs. Head back to camp for lunch.

After lunch, enjoy a massage session, while spotting the resident wildlife from the deck of your tent. In the evening watch as the sun sets over the horizon with sundowner drink at the Leopard Hill. Dinner will be served at your choice of venue and you can end your day with a stargazing experience right inside your tent where you have a retractable roof that gently slides back for a perfect nightly scene.

    Day 5: Diani Beach Resort

On your last day in the great savannah, you can choose either to head out on an early morning walking safari where you have a chance to identify insects and birds, track animals through the bush, and learn the medicinal properties of various trees and plants or have a laid back morning and take things at a more leisurely pace. After breakfast, our therapist is ready to offer you a massage in the comfort of your tent.

You will be served lunch at mid-day. After lunch, gather your things and say your goodbyes. One final game drive takes you to Naboisho Air Strip in time for your scheduled flight to Diani. Diani Beach is one of Kenya's most popular beaches, located in the southern part of Mombasa City. It is characterized by white sandy beaches, fringing coral reefs, with underwater sandbars near the surface allowing wading with a clear view of the white sand.

Upon arriving at Ukunda airstrip in Diani Beach, you will be met and transferred to your resort. Your beach resort is set on the pristine beaches and unspoiled coral reefs. Arrive at the resort and check in to your villa set facing the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. You will have time to freshen up and relax before dinner. Enjoy a sumptuous cuisine with a Mediterranean influence. You can end the day with some evening entertainment before you retire to bed.

    Day 6: Diani Beach Resort

Start the day with a tropical breakfast, followed by a morning massage to help you relax or enjoy some yoga and meditation session. You have a full day of relaxation with an option of a variety of activities and sports offered by the resort. Head out for a mini-golf game or a game of tennis. Later head to the ocean. Surrounded by premier diving sites, it is a gateway to an underwater wonderland. Activities like reef snorkeling, scuba diving, and kite surfing are just some of the options to explore or sip champagne on the white sandy beaches while gentle waves cool off your feet.

After lunch, take a discovery stroll in the coastal town of Diani. Diani opens onto a vast expanse of white sand and it is probably the most picturesque of Kenya's beaches. Don't miss a ride on the local taxis known as 'tuktuk' during your tour to get a glimpse of the life of local villages. Later experience the evening Dhow the Swahili way with local music, canapés, and breathtaking view, a perfect ending to an eventful day.

    Day 7: Diani Beach Resort

Have an early tropical breakfast and then proceed with your guide on a Dolphin Safari to Wasini Island (at an extra cost book with reception). The island excursion is done aboard an Arabian-style dhow – a traditional style of sailboat. You will board an Arabic dhow and sail for one hour searching for dolphins. At Wasini Island you will learn more about the Swahili people and the Arabs history. Enjoy your lunch which mainly consists of seafood and Swahili dishes on the island.

Later sail along the mangrove swamps and spend the afternoon at leisure sunbathing on the island. After a short siesta, board the Arab dhow to sail back to Diani. Return to the resort for dinner. Unwind at the resort's beach bar, which is perfectly located to overlook the ocean. A nice place to enjoy cocktails, fresh fruit juices, aperitifs and good music.

    Day 8: Diani Beach Resort

Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the resort, followed by a relaxing morning of pampering for the rejuvenation of mind, body and soul. At mid-day, you will have lunch then spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure either sunbathing at the beach or you may engage in activities such as scuba diving, windsurfing, fishing, kitesurfing or snorkelling the beautiful coral reefs. In the evening unwind in your beautiful suite or in the pool before dinner is served. Enjoy a private dinner served by the pool, a perfect ending to an eventful day.

    Day 9: Goodbye Kenya

Sleep in and wake up to enjoy a well prepared late tropical breakfast. The day is yours to fill as you please. Treat yourself to a soothing massage, sip champagne on a secluded beach while the gentle waves cool your feet or after breakfast, head to the beach to relax as you enjoy the sound of gentle waves and the slight breeze of the swaying palm trees one last time. You will check out in the afternoon for your flight back to Nairobi. Arrive in time for your international flight back home. Bid farewell to Africa, taking with you a lifetime of adventurous memories.
